Mesa-based entrepreneur and visionary businessman Gary Whiting founded Cheyenne Mountain Entertainment, Inc. ("CME"). Mr. Whiting began raising capital to develop an online game utilizing the Stargate franchise in June 2005. In September 2005, CME obtained the rights and IP for Stargate-related online games.
From the beginning, the company’s goal has been to find the most talented and experienced people in the game industry capable of bringing a world-class MMO to market. The first key position sought by the company was an industry leader and expert in game development with a strong background in MMO development. The company’s search successfully attracted industry veteran Joe Ybarra, who joined the CME team in July 2005.
Joe recognized the opportunity with Stargate Worlds to build a world-class development studio dedicated to online interactive entertainment. With Joe’s 25 years of game development experience in place, the next key position was for a business leader who could grow the infrastructure of a startup technology company into a premier publishing enterprise so Joe could focus on building AAA entertainment products. In August of 2005, the company recruited Tim Jenson, former president and chief executive officer of a software licensing company.
In 2007, FireSky has a growing staff comprised of more than 100 industry veterans, four game studios including Stargate Worlds, LLC, and is pursuing a vision significantly more ambitious than the dream begun by the original creators of Stargate Worlds™.
