Hollywood Heavy Hitter Schwalb Joins CMG Board of Directors
Oct 02, 2007
Allen Schwalb, the man responsible for financing more than 60 Hollywood major motion picture studio films and professional sports team franchises, has now added a videogame company to his impressive list of successful sports and entertainment ventures.
Mr. Schwalb, founder and president of Star Partners, Inc., Star Sports and Entertainment, Inc., Professional Sports Investments, Inc. and Modern Women, Inc., has joined the board of directors of Cheyenne Mountain Games (CMG).
Mr. Schwalb played a key role in MGM’s 1990s rebuilding effort when Star Partners financed the MGM/UA movies “Rocky V,” the James Bond film “License to Kill,” “Rain Man,” “Moonstruck,” “A Fish Called Wanda,” “Thelma and Louise” and a dozen other well known films. In the 1980s, he raised more than $250 million for the motion picture industry, financing more than 50 major motion pictures, including three Superman films, the James Bond film “Never Say Never Again,” three Clint Eastwood films, “The Color Purple” and “The Right Stuff.” His track record of success in the entertainment industry goes back to the 1970s when he backed the Broadway show smash hit “Annie.”
Mr. Schwalb has been owner of the Arena Football League's (AFL) Charlotte Rage team and also an owner of the AFL's Orlando Predators. He and his son Philip recently raised $100 million to fund the Sports Museum of America in New York City, the world's first and only interactive sports museum combining all sports under one roof.
"My financing endeavors with MGM go way back to the 80s and 90s. When I learned that CMG was licensing the rights to a videogame based on MGM's Stargate movie and TV series franchise, I knew that I wanted to be a part of it," said Mr. Schwalb. "Cheyenne Mountain Games has put together a great management team, videogame architects and programmers in a short period of time and I believe that we will create videogame products that gamers and investors both will love."
Mr. Schwalb joins Gary Whiting and Keith Deering on the CMG board of directors.
“Allen’s experience with Hollywood and proven track record in fundraising will be invaluable as we grow our operation at Cheyenne Mountain Games,” said Cheyenne Mountain Entertainment CEO Tim Jenson. “He picks winners and that gives us a lot of confidence moving forward.”
A renaissance man, Mr. Schwalb has earned five master’s degrees in the fields of business, finance, engineering, science & technology and management. While working in the aerospace industry in the 1960s as a rocket scientist, he developed new propulsion systems currently being utilized for space flight. He published many scientific articles and papers in prestigious scientific technology journals.
